The Supreme Court of India Friday cancelled the bail of Hassan Ali – an accused in money laundering case. The Supreme Court while pronouncing the judgment reserved earlier, observed that the fact Ali had three passports and the money seemed to be proceeds of crime could not be ruled out. Further, citing that his alleged links with arms dealer Adnan Kashoggi were also under probe, the Supreme Court observed that the apprehension that he will abscond on bail was well placed. Ali has been arrested by Enforcement Directorate for alleged acts of money laundering which are under extensive investigations at present.
The Supreme Court earlier in an appeal against the decision of Bombay High Court granting him bail, had stayed the order in the interim. Finally deciding the appeal today, the Supreme Court has cancelled the bail granted to it by the Bombay High Court.
