The death of veteran RSS pracharak and senior BJP leader Pyarelal Khandelwal has raised a very basic question on whether one should take up the responsibility of being a RSS pracharak or not. The octogenarian leader was not given his due share of respect by none other than those in powerful positions today due to the hard work of RSS pracharaks such as Pyarelal Khandelwal. According to party sources, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, did not even bother to come to Delhi after hearing about the death of Pyarelal Khandelwal. This despite the fact that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh paid floral tributes along with the LK Advani, Dr Murli Manohar Joshi and Rajnath Singh at the party headquarters. Everyone in the BJP acknowledges Khandelwal’s 50 years of services in the RSS. Not only did Shivraj Singh Chouhan not come but none of his ministers also bothered to spare time for the leader’s death. BJP workers are praising former Chief Minister Sunderlal Patwa, who despite his failing health, came to Delhi on hearing the news. It is a known fact that Patwa and Khandelwal had been arch rivals in the BJP.
