Dr Karan Singh for his age is always a busy man. The president of the ICCR has been travelling tirelessly for fostering India’s cultural relations with other countries. He is off on a four-nation tour covering the United States, France, Belgium and Netherlands. From speaking on Vedanta and announcing a grant of US $ 100,000 over two years at the University of Santa Cruz supporting the Satyajit Ray centre, his most significant stop will be his third stop at The Hague, Netherlands, where he inaugurates the Indian culture centre (The Gandhi centre) on the day of the Mahatma’s birthday.
On his Parisian stint, Singh will discuss upcoming UNESCO projects. And in Belgium Singh will be part of the inauguration of the Bi-annual Trans-Europe Cultural Festival — Europalia – where India will be the focus country of the festival in 2013.It’s great for someone of Singh’s age to show such passion towards cultural communication but its timw we find someone to step into Singh’s shoes so that the flag can be carried forward.
