Friend Indeed

Rajasthan Governor SK Singh’s passing away has left a void amongst his admirers and friends. Singh was known for his sagacity as a bureaucrat and has handled many sensitive postings during his long career. Singh’s younger son Kanishka may not have followed in his father’s foot-steps but is known to be his able inheritor. He has the same streak of intellect that his father had and has been Rahul Gandhi’s political chieftain giving the young Congress leader and the party a fresh lease.

In bereavement Rahul has stood firmly by Kanishka, who is also a close friend apart from being his political confidant. Rahul was joined by the entire Gandhi family including Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka in offering support to the Singhs as soon as they heard the news. Rahul stood right through the last rites of SK Singh. In fact Rahul’s empathy is well known amongst Congress workers. When Manoj Mattu, the man who looks after the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation lost his wife Pratiksha in a car accident (while she was coming back from Amethi), Rahul is known to have rushed to the Muttu home right after he got the news.  He was by their side all through just like a family member. The young Gandhi is indeed a friend in need.
